What You Need to Know about Medicare Eye Benefits

In the never ending quest to know all of the ins and outs of medicare insurance we are going to take a look at another little know Medicare benefit, your eyes.  While there are multiple different parts of Medicare insurance the Medicare Eye Benefits seem to be a lot less known and used.  Here are a couple of specifics about Medicare eye benefits.

  • If you are enrolled in Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B then you are eligible to partake in several different options for your Medicare eye benefits.
  • If you have diabetes or had a history of Glaucoma in your family then you will be allowed to due a Glaucoma check once per year.  Also, if you are African American and more than 50 years old or Hispanic at the age of 65 or over you are eligible for the Medicare eye benefits.
  • If you have to have glaucoma surgery then part of the surgery may be covered, but the lenses needed after the surgery are absolutely covered by the Medicare Eye Benfits.

The Medicare eye benefits do not benefit everyone just the same and may not be what you require at the specific time.  However, Medicare eye benefits will help those who are really struggling and weed out the rest.
