Verify Medicare Benefits for Eye Care Following Cataract Surgery

Medicare benefits can be very tricky when your vision comes in to play due to the coverage that is available to you.  Generally, Medicare doesn’t cover eyeglasses or contact lenses that you need for everyday vision reasons.  However, there are several options for your vision following Cataract surgery and below is are a few things you should know.

If you are coming off of a cataract surgery with an intraocular lends your Medicare coverage will pay for your cataract glasses.  You will also be covered for contact lenses and intraocular lenses that are provided by an ophthalmologist.  If your optometrist is licensed to provide services in your state their part in the process will also be covered.
