Take Advantage of Free Preventive Screenings with Medicare

Unless you have a Medicare Advantage Plan you will have the opportunity to start getting free preventive screening through your Medicare plan in 2011.  If you haven’t taken advantage of this already it is recommended that you do as you can save a lot of money on necessary procedures and precautions.  Some of the procedures that are covered are detailed below, these are not all that is covered but are the most common needed.

Flu Shots:  In years past it was required that you paid good money to get a flu shot to protect yourself from the nastiest of seasonal illnesses.  Instead, now that you have Medicare coverage you can get this covered at no cost to you and your family.

Cholesterol Screenings:  Much of America suffers from problems with cholesterol and this is why it is a big deal to get checked for the condition while you have the chance.  Now that your Medicare covers this at no cost there is no reason not to get checked annually.

Chronic Condition Counseling:  Do you have diabetes or another chronic condition?  If so you can count on your Medicare coverage to give you the opportunity to be seen and heard for no cost.  In addition you will get expert counseling on how to deal with your condition.
