Communication between healthcare providers and doctors has been horrid in recent years for Medicare. New ways to share information were few and far between for Medicare, however, they are starting to step up their game. With electronic prescribing between healthcare providers and your pharmacy Medicare has been able to step into modern electronic times.
Your information is still secure with this process but your prescriptions arrive sooner as they are not sent the traditional way by a courier, instead sent electronically.
• Waiting for your pharmacist to fill your prescription after you hand it over is over. You won’t even have to wait as it will likely be ready when you arrive.
• You could even save money when the pharmacist can check to see if your drug comes in a cheaper generic version.
• Handwritten prescriptions are sometimes hard to read, electronic prescriptions are much more legible. Less chances of getting the wrong dosage or drug completely this way.
• Any allergies or other drug interaction issues can be avoided because prescribers will have secure access to your history with prescriptions.
