Medicare Diabetes Benefits: How It Could Help You

Anybody who suffers from diabetes and the lifestyle change that it demands of you knows that it requires a good amount of money to maintain your health.  As you get older and are unable to maintain this lifestyle financially then Medicare diabetes benefits could step in and help you continue to live as close to a normal life as possible.

What is covered by Medicare diabetes benefits?

  1. Your diabetes screening or Fasting Plasma Glucose Test may be covered for you up to two times per year.
  2. If you have increased risk for diabetes with high blood pressure, have a history of abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels, obesity or high blood sugar then you may qualify for Medicare diabetes benefits.
  3. You pay nothing with these benefits for diabetes courtesy of Medicare, if of course, you qualify.
  4. You may also qualify to pay for only 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for glucose monitors test strips, and lancets.
  5. Medicare diabetes benefits may also pay for you to take diabetes self-management training.  Your doctor may be able to tell you if you qualify for this part of Medicare diabetes benefits.  You would pay 20% of the approved amount after your yearly Medicare deductible.
