For people that suffer from diabetes it can be quite a strain just to be able to live what we would call a “normal” life. Constant checking must be done of the blood/sugar levels to make sure that you aren’t at risk for an attack and this is just part of the problem. To help people manage this lifestyle there is a popular training called “Diabetes Self-Management Training” that you can take and Medicare will help you with.
The Medicare Part B deductible will apply to this training, but you will only have to pay 20% of the Medicare approved amount for the training. However, you can’t just go and sign up for the training yourself and expect to have Medicare foot the bill. Your doctor or another health care provider must provide a written order to be able to get you in and covered for the service.
This self-management training is what could change your life if you are suffering from the effects of diabetes. It is very important that you take good care of yourself to keep things from getting worse and this is a good way to start. The amount you will have to pay will be small compared to the difference that knowing how to manage your diabetes will make.
