How to Pay Medicare Premiums

Many people are confused when they receive a check at their home that requires them to pay a premium for Medicare services.  The common complaint is that they thought this would be deducted from their account or requested in another manner.  Whether you knew it or not, you are responsible for paying your Medicare premium for Part A every time and Part B in some situations.

If you get a monthly benefit payment from the RRB (Railroad Retirement Board), Civil Service or Social Security (SSA) your Part B premium will be deducted from this check.  If you do not receive these checks your premium will be sent in the form of a bill for you to pay every month.  Make sure you make these payments to avoid interruptions in your coverage that could cost you money in the long run.

When you are ready to pay these premiums all you have to do is make out a check and send it in.  You can mail your premium payments to the Medicare Premium Collection Center, P.O. Box 790355, St. Louis, MO 63179-0355. If you get a bill from the RRB, mail your premium payments to RRB, Medicare Premium Payments, P.O. Box 9024, St. Louis, MO 63197-9024.
