Medicare Benefits: Nursing Home

There are so many different parts to Medicare with different Medicare benefits, one being the use of a nursing home for a Medicare subscriber.  This case is very touchy for many people that are terrified of the thought of living in a home without the resources.  The Medicare benefits with a Nursing Home are not great, but you can get some help.

First, understand that Medicare benefits for a nursing home will usually not click on unless you are going to an approved nursing home after a “qualified” hospital stay.  This means that the nursing home must be approved by Medicare and that the hospital stay had to be something related to the reason for the nursing home.  There are other ways to fund a nursing home other than just from your personal savings.

It is possible to get some help from Medicaid on this same issue, but the real help will usually come from private funding like veterans groups.  Your Medicare benefits may fit your personal situation’s need for a nursing home, but don’t bet on it.  Exhaust all of your resources instead of placing all of your eggs in the Medicare benefits nursing home basket.
