Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening for Medicare

Medicare does have a comprehensive list of different services that are available to people that are in need of being checked for possible health issues.  One screening is to be able to tell if you are at risk for an abdominal aortic aneurysm at some point in your life.  Medicare does approve for this testing to be done but there are a few things that you should know about it before you go to be tested.

1. This will be an ultrasound screening to determine if you are at risk.  The important thing you must note here is that this is to determine if you are at risk, not if you will actually have the issue.

2.  You can only get this screening done if you are referred to do so after you have your one time “Welcome to Medicare” physical when you start Medicare.  This physical is to see if there are any issues you should be tested for before your coverage period begins.

3.  Of the Medicare approved amount that will be paid for this screening you will be required to pay for 20% of the total.  This is not a bad amount to have to pay to possibly rule out the risk from the future of your life.
